Recruit-a –Member Campaign

A reminder of SLA’s current Recruit-a–Member Campaign. If you value your SLA Membership – let your colleagues know, recruit them into SLA, and you may win a free registration for SLA 2001 in New Orleans! That will be the Grand Prize for most new members recruited. However, even one new member brought in brings you a President’s Club lapel pin and membership in the President’s Club. Your recruits have a chance to win a $50 (US) gift card and you get one of those too for every ten members you recruit! And the chapter and division with the most new members joining through this campaign also get a free conference registration, as do the chapters and divisions showing the highest percentage of growth. Lots of winner!

Things you need to know:
· Only SLA members may participate as recruiters
· Your name must appear on the new member’s application
· Deadline for receipt of applications and dues is 31 December 2009
· Prizes will be announced and awarded no later than 2 February 2010

SLA proposed name change

President of the NJ Chapter of SLA, Eric Schwartz, compiled a list of signed opinions, mostly on blogs, by members debating, supporting or opposing the SLA name change to the Association for Strategic Knowledge Professionals.

Thanks and Kudos!

Thanks and kudos to all who made the 2009 SLA PNW Chapter’s Holiday/Centennial Celebration a success! Thanks to our sponsors: Reprints Desk, Lexis-Nexis, Morningstar Document Research, and Thomson Reuters. Thanks to the Centennial Celebration Committee and Chris Mulready for hosting the event. For those not able to attend, photos of the archival display on our chapter that the Centennial Celebration Committee put together will be posted to our web site soon. And special thanks to Gloria Zamora, Cindy Romaine, and Dan Trefethen who led the lively discussion on the SLA Alignment Project and the SLA proposed name change!
