Meredith Farkas is the Head of Instructional Services at Portland State University and a lecturer at San Jose State University's School of Library and Information Science. She is the author of the book "Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication and Community Online" (Information Today, 2007) and writes the monthly column "Technology in Practice" for American Libraries. Meredith was honored in 2008 and 2011 with the WISE Excellence in Online Education Award and in 2009 with the LITA/Library Hi Tech award for Outstanding Communication in Library and Information Technology.

Brent Mai, SLA 2012 President
Brent has been honored to serve
the members of his profession through SLA in a variety of capacities. Most recently
he served as the co-chair of the 2007 (Denver) Annual Conference Committee. As
a member of the SLA Board of Directors from 2003-2006 and Division Cabinet
Chair, he also served on the Annual Conference Committees for the 2005
(Toronto) and 2006 (Baltimore) Annual Conferences. Brent was a member of the
Association's Finance Committee from 1999-2003. Brent currently serves as
University Librarian and Director of the Center for Volga German Studies at
Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Before leading the library team at
Concordia, he was Director of the Walker Management Library of the Owen
Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University and the instruction
librarian of the Krannert Management Library at Purdue University. As a
corporate information specialist, he worked for Brown & Root (now KBR) in
Houston and Bell Northern Research (now NorTel) in Dallas.

Kim Dority, Dority &
Associates, Inc.
Kim Dority, MLS, is the founder
and president of G. K. Dority & Associates, Inc., located in Denver,
Colorado. She is an information specialist with expertise in information
strategy, information process design, research, writing, editing, publishing,
and online content development. Kim has worked with all types of organizations
to design, build, and execute effective information strategies. Her work has
encompassed the entire spectrum of information strategy, solutions, and
implementation for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations. In addition to
her work with G. K. Dority & Associates, Ms. Dority is on the advisory
board of the University of Denver's Library and Information Science graduate
program, and previously served as the program's interim director. During that
time she created and has now taught for many years a course entitled
"Alternative Career Paths for LIS Students," on which Rethinking
Information Work is based. She has also written several bibliographies of
reference works. Kim received her M.L.S. from the University of Denver, and her
B.A. in comparative literature from the University of California at Irvine.
